Farok is an unusual creature. The majority of his lasting habits have been formed by the experiments that were practiced on him. On the surface Farok is an unpredictable dog who lacks much of a moral compass. He finds pleasure in the macabre and will purposefully test boundaries. He lacks trust and due to having no socialization when being raised, he has no clue how to behave around other dogs. He lacks normal social behaviours such as body language displays and can often send very mixed messages in his manner of approach and interaction with others. The cranial implants at the base of his skull still work to some degree, but are faulty due to a lack of maintenance and nobody controlling the behaviours. This leads him to make very sudden personality changes. Farok is fond of telling stories (even of the lab and humans). He will often tell the truth, but has been known to lie just as easily. His stories can often conflict with each other, making it hard to tell whether they are true accounts of his past or figments of his imagination. Sometimes even Farok is unsure of this due to his amnesia.
Farok expresses a dangerous curiosity in certain things. He tends to avoid packs due to the overwhelming nature and size of them- they also do not bode well with his dislike of being trapped and surrounded. He does, however have a clear interest in meeting other rogues or dogs in fewer numbers. Having had little chance to socialize does not mean Farok has no interest in it whatsoever. He never grew up alongside a family and has never witnessed pups before. His interest borders on an unhealthy fixation at times. His interest in pups can sometimes merge with his prey drive and his bitterness towards his own mother and his training of killing the old breeding females in the facility have also warped his image of mothers.
Despite being fragmented in nature, Farok does have a sense of humour, albeit a dark one. He can trust other dogs with time, despite keeping his distance from them at first. He is not malicious or harmful for the sake of it and most of his violent tendencies are a result of his implants malfunctioning or a quick impulsive behaviour that was not thought through. His lack of moral compass comes from his lack of socialization and the interference of his mind through the implants.
History:
Farok was born into captivity within the experimentation labs. His mother had a litter of pups that were bred within the facility and taken from her at only a few weeks of age. Despite being kept in a facility with other dogs, Farok was kept isolated for specific experiments that sought to alter him into a 'guard'. A retinal camera was placed in his left eye once he had reached 1 year of age. In fear of the procedure and the bad associations he had with human contact, Farok resisted violently and was sedated shortly thereafter. Upon awakening in the aftermath of the procedure the sounds of the inserted camera within his eye rang throughout his head. For days Farok would spin in circles, driven to the brink of insanity by the whirring sound of the device that followed each movement of his eye. After a week, Farok had spent hours pawing at the left side of his face, whimpering and distressed by the alteration. After hours of pacing the cell, he became increasingly aware of a loose screw in the wall. Driven by his own desperation, Farok attempted to gouge his own eye out with the loose screw that protruded from the wall of his enclosure. The Scientists caught him at this behaviour when monitoring the tapes that recorded his vision from the left eye. They interrupted the behaviour and relocated him to a different cage, preventing his removal of the eye. The camera remained within Farok's eye, but a large scar remained across his face as a reminder of his attempt to remove it.
As the lab's research developed further, Farok became the first dog to survive the procedure of the cranial implants. For the most part they were successful and the research facility were able to curb his behaviour. They stopped his violent fear-driven outbursts at human contact and set him against against dying dogs and old breeding females from the facility as a test of their level of control over him. It had proved foolproof with the regular maintenance. When the disease struck and humans began to die, fewer and fewer people returned to the lab until it was left deserted. Many animals died within their cages around Farok. Driven by hunger and the certainty that humans would not return, Farok broke the glass of his exhibit and found his way onto the streets. He soon retreated to the outskirts of the suburban territory and took up residence in the Abandoned Fairground. Here he met Marra, a female collie who had been the first rogue to settle in the area. The two reached an understanding, and through living within the same area Marra begun to gain an understanding of his mannerisms and behaviours. The two are able to be civil and communicate safely due to Marra's ability to deal with his outbursts and erratic behaviour. Farok sleeps in the abandoned Ferris Wheel, whilst Marra spends the majority of her time in the Circus Arena and the Theatre.
Skills/Role in community: Rogue/Loner
Home/Territory/Pack: Farok lives as a rogue and claims the Abandoned Fairground as his home. Despite this, he will wander into other territories as he pleases.
Affiliations: Marra
Items of note: Two metal implants at the base of his skull. They are concealed beneath his fur but the occasional glint of them can sometimes be seen from beneath it. The implants were originally used to switch and control his behaviours by electrical impulses. Tests included initiating aggression for the purposes of guarding and switching him to a 'docile' mode in which he remained trance-like and mute for easier management.

Likes:
- Hunting
- Bones. They're fun to chew.
- Witnessing others being grievously injured. It is an area that he finds great humour in, even if the individual being harmed is himself.
- Roaming- he has a particular fondness for running into other rogues and loners on his travels.
- Telling jokes.
- Knowledge- With knowledge comes power, and this is something Farok is all too familiar with. His roaming nature gives him insights into territories he has trespassed upon and his past within the labs also gives him what he believes to be an 'insight' into the nature of humans. He finds little more satisfying than knowing something that another does not. He will often trade tips and facts for a pass through territory, or perhaps simply as a favour. When he does share what he knows it can often be useful- however he has been known to lie on occasion.
- Bird watching.
The concept of family- It intrigues him, as do females. - 'Playing'- His use of the term is flexible. Play can range from tearing around the woodland, darting in and out of trees like a pup, or it can involve tracking or hunting certain individuals. He uses the term openly, but the meaning of it can often change. Regardless of what it means at each particular time it is something that brings him pleasure.
- The rain. He can often be seen roaming in even the harshest of storms, soaked to his core. Having lived an indoor life of isolation Farok did not experience weather or seasonal changes until he broke free of the institution. The rain is a reminder of his freedom. He can often be seen lounging in the mud during heavy rainstorms or sitting out in the open to observe them.
Dislikes:
- Humans
- Physical contact
- Being trapped, cornered or restrained.
- Man-made objects and foods
- Pets
- Being instructed or ordered around
- Sudden loud sounds
- Mothers and young pups- Despite his dislike of them, he can appear amiable and fascinated in them at first. His is however a severe risk towards females in whelp and young litters, holding a bitterness towards the mothers in the breeding facilities that allowed their pups to be experimented on by humans.
- Foxes- The scent of them is intolerable to him. This is not aided by his high prey drive and the appeal of their bushy tails.
Strengths:
- Speed- Farok was built for speed. His fondness of hunting and nomadic nature has only increased his stamina.
- Knowledge- Farok has a keen ear and a fondness for gossip. His disregard for pack boundaries often leads him to pick up valuable information on others, pack issues and the whereabouts of certain leaders and individuals.
- Freelance- Having no ties to any other individuals and no relationships that run deeper than 'superficial', Farok will happily work alongside the highest bidder in a situation. This makes him a valuable asset for those wanting to gleam information on others. Farok rarely favours one individual over another, however. Chances are if he's stabbing someone in the back for you, he'll happily stab you in the back for someone else later. This lack of loyalty can be both useful and dangerous with Farok.
- Lack of restraint- Although this is not a strength for Farok personally, it can benefit others. In fights he will continue with his pursuits regardless of the damage done to himself. It can make him a useful distraction in battle as he rarely knows the meaning of the word 'stop'. If he chooses to fight for your side, there is no chance of him turning tail and fleeing mid-battle.
- Tactical- Farok often considers situations as a whole. When grounded enough to be thoughtful, he is very methodical and will think things through to great detail.
- Imagination- This fucker can make up some awesome stories.
Weaknesses:
- Lead Poisoning- Due to the experimental nature of Farok's implants, the components constructing them were still under trial. With batteries containing lead elements, he became subject to lead poisoning. This has left lasting effects on him causing him to have seizures, sudden aggressive outbursts, chronic headaches, habitually snapping his jaws, pacing in circles and amnesia.
- Faulty Implants- Due to a lack of maintenance, his implants often malfunction. As the implants are linked to the brain he suffers from sudden switches in behaviour. Along with becoming aggressive in the blink of an eye, he can also freeze and stop his actions very suddenly (something which puts him at a disadvantage in a fight). The electrical impulses from his implants cause him to twitch, often mis-judging movements that require precision.
- Communication- Although Farok is able to communicate, his implants can occasionally interfere with his ability to speak. Malfunctioning electrical impulses may cause him to make unusual sounds and garbled unnatural speech. He is unable to control when this happens and it will usually phase out with time. It will most commonly occur when he is in a position of high stress or if his implants become wet.
- Water- Water affects his implants, interfering with his already-faulty connection. When water increases the conductivity he experiences pain and increased sensitivity to touch. He is also unable to swim due to the weight of the alterations within him.
- Memory- Farok has a warped sense of memory. This can lead him to behave oddly around those he has previously met and 'forget' previous conversations.
- Mental instability- Arguably from excessive experimentation and the long-term effect of his implants, Farok has a highly sensitive and weakened mental state. He will switch from being perfectly content to a raging show of fangs for little to no reason whatsoever. States most commonly include: manic, enraged and extreme fear. It can be difficult to calm him from these sudden switches in behaviour when they take place.
Fears:
- Drowning- Although Farok can tolerate the discomfort of rain, the sense of being submerged in water is excruciating for him. As a result of this he has a fear of large bodies of water, most notably lakes and the sea. He is also unable to swim due to his weighty alterations and stiff joints- something which only adds to his fear.
- Humans- Aggressive in nature to humans, Farok will do all in his power to avoid them. If he is placed in a situation in which he is cornered or trapped by them, he will become increasingly stressed. His experience in the labs had already created a poor image of humans in his mind, however upon crossing paths with various survivors his image of them was tainted further by humans attempting to kill him for fear that his twitching and erratic behaviour was a sign of rabies or disease.
Ambitions:
- No longer being affected and suffering from the aftermath of his implants and experimentation. When Farok is lucid he can recognise the damage of his implants and express a dislike for how they warp his behaviour and make many other dogs fear and avoid him.
- To live alongside other dogs after a life of isolation.

Mutations/Features:
- Metal Implants at base of skull
- Retinal camera in left eye- The appliance is no longer in use, causing his eye to appear dull and lifeless. This lack of pigmentation from the placement of the camera can make some mistake him for being blind in his left eye despite both of his eyes being fully functional.
